Banquet Server

Job Summary: Provides professional service in banquet rooms, kitchens, off-site venues and at any location banquet services are required.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Maintains positive attitude and smiles in all public areas.
Provides efficient, professional service.
Executes departmental standards of service.
Works well with others, especially cooks, bartenders, banquet supervisors and kitchen supervisors.
Handles money according to procedure.
Is able to read, comprehend, and execute work per Banquet Event Orders as they relate to the services required for each function.
Serves drinks and prepares alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks as needed. Monitors guest consumption of alcohol and intervenes as needed according to guidelines.
Communicates inventory levels on linen, soda, and other items as required to the Convention Services Manager.
Cleans banquet furniture and audio/visual equipment as required.
Breaks down banquet rooms after functions are finished.
Arrange tables, chairs, audio/visual equipment and other items according to Banquet Event Orders, supervisor instruction and guest requests.
Sets silverware, glassware, china, linen, audio/visual equipment, etc as required.
Records usage of items billed on consumption for billing purposes.
Assists other food and beverage outlets and kitchen as needed if instructed.
Maintains clean, stocked workstations, storage areas and coolers.
Attends all meetings and/or trainings as required.
Performs all other duties as assigned within the scope of work.

Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be able to read, write legibly, understand and speak English. Must be 18 years of age or older. Must have one year experience as a server or one year experience in a support role in a hotel or restaurant banquet or catering department. Flexibility with available shifts and days off preferred (shifts often include nights, weekends, holidays and overtime as needed). You may be required to pass a skills assessment test to determine if you meet the minimum qualifications of the position. Exposure to loud and continual noise levels and a smoke filled environment. Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Must be able to lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds per proper procedure. Must be able to endure frequent bending, lifting, stooping, and standing/walking. Must be able to meet Odawa Casino Resort internal training requirements. Must be able to obtain a key gaming license in accordance to the regulations established by the LTBB Gaming Regulatory Commission. Must maintain confidentiality at all times.
A Team Member who resigns with proper notice may apply for rehire after 6 months from the effective date of their termination.
A Team Member who has their employment terminated by any gaming facility or who resigns without proper notice may be eligible for rehire subject to the following schedule:
1st occurrence must wait one year from the effective date of termination or resignation without proper notice
2nd occurrence must wait three years from the most recent effective date of termination or resignation without proper notice
Any occurrence beyond the 2nd must wait five years from the most recent effective date of termination or resignation without proper notice
Please note that occurrences do not reset regardless of length of time between them.
A Team Member whose employment is terminated as a result of not being able to return to work upon exhaustion of the Fair Employment Leave will be eligible for rehire without a waiting period once they have been released back to work by a qualified physician.
A Seasonal Team Member whose employment is terminated will be eligible for rehire without a waiting period if they successfully complete their most recent seasonal employment.
Must not be currently on a Security Ban from Odawa Casino during the time of application.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
