Restaurant Cashier/hostess - Deli

Job SUMMARY: Prepares food and serves deli patrons at counter and at deli tables. Greets guests and escorts them to tables. Receives cash from customers in payment for goods or services and records amounts received.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Takes orders from guests and cooks foods required short preparation times, according to the guest requirements.
Completes order from steam table and serves the guest at the table or counter.
Operates a cash register/POS (Point of Sale) system, ringing in the proper amount into the register and giving the guest the correct change; accounts for all cash, charge and complimentary sales according to established policies and procedures; maintains the integrity of all financial controls and responsibility.
Prepares deli foods following all food safety and sanitation guidelines.
Maintains a neat, clean, organized, safe and comfortable work environment for Team Members and guests.
Prepares and serves soft drinks and ice cream dishes, such as ice cream sundaes, malted milks, sodas, and fruitades, using memorized formulas and methods or following directions.
Cleans glasses, dishes, and fountain equipment and polishes metalwork on fountain.
Keeps work areas, countertops, and deli tables clean, sanitized, and free of debris at all times.
Maintains professional grooming and appearance accordingto the established Grooming and Appearance policies.
Performs all other duties as assigned within the scope of work.

Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
Ability to count money and make change correctly. Must be 18 years of age or older. Must be able to read, write legibly, understand and speak English. Must have good guest service skills and the ability to correctly count change. Must be able to meet Odawa Casino Resort internal training requirements. Must be flexible with shift and days off. Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time with infrequent and brief rest periods, must be able to bend, kneel and reach. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Must have basic computer skills and knowledge of POS systems. You may be required to pass a skills assessment test to determine if you meet the minimum qualifications of the position. Exposure to loud and continual noise levels and a smoke filled environment. Must be able to handle busy periods during peak service times. Must be able to obtain a gaming license in accordance to the regulations established by the LTTB Gaming Regulatory Commission. Must maintain confidentiality at all times.
A Team Member who resigns with proper notice may apply for rehire after 6 months from the effective date of their termination.
A Team Member who has their employment terminated by any gaming facility or who resigns without proper notice may be eligible for rehire subject to the following schedule:
1st occurrence must wait one year from the effective date of termination or resignation without proper notice
2nd occurrence must wait three years from the most recent effective date of termination or resignation without proper notice
Any occurrence beyond the 2nd must wait five years from the most recent effective date of termination or resignation without proper notice
Please note that occurrences do not reset regardless of length of time between them.
A Team Member whose employment is terminated as a result of not being able to return to work upon exhaustion of the Fair Employment Leave will be eligible for rehire without a waiting period once they have been released back to work by a qualified physician.
A Seasonal Team Member whose employment is terminated will be eligible for rehire without a waiting period if they successfully complete their most recent seasonal employment.
Must not be currently on a Security Ban from Odawa Casino during the time of application.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
